The six-track record explores themes of resilience, community awareness, and veteran experiences.
Scottsdale, AZ, USA -- Darryl Scotti and Big Yard Nation have announced the upcoming release of their new six-song Americana EP, Poets & Heroes, scheduled to debut on all major streaming platforms on May 29. Co-produced by veteran musician and producer Larry Antonino (known for his work with Pablo Cruise), the project marks a shift in strategy for the musical outfit, moving from a steady succession of standalone singles to a cohesive, masterfully sequenced studio record.
The upcoming release serves as the definitive culmination of a deliberate, multi-stage rollout strategy. Earlier singles from the project, including the veteran-focused anthem "Better Day" and the socially conscious track "Weight of the World," previously received regional and national media coverage from outlets including Newsbreak and Big News Network. The full May 29 release brings these existing tracks into their intended context alongside brand-new, unreleased material and studio remixes to complete the record's overarching narrative.
"Our goal with this EP was to build a unified narrative rather than just a collection of standalone songs," says singer-songwriter Darryl Scotti. "We focused on creating a record that speaks directly to shared human experiences, tying everyday struggles to larger stories of resilience and hope."
The production, helmed jointly by Scotti and Antonino, relies heavily on organic instrumentation, traditional acoustic textures, and layered vocal harmonies designed to fit within AAA, Americana, and Adult Contemporary radio formats.
"Working with Larry Antonino allowed us to refine the sonic landscape of these songs," Scotti added. "We wanted the arrangements to feel cinematic but grounded, ensuring the instrumentation always serves the core message of the lyrics."
The six-track collection explores distinct thematic pillars across its runtime. The record opens with "Weight of the World," a reflection on homelessness and community empathy, followed by the uplifting themes of "Better Day," which was inspired by the personal resilience of military veterans. The narrative turns inward with "Coming Home," an intimate ballad exploring family dynamics and distance, before transitioning into the title track, "Poets & Heroes," which serves as an homage to the craft of traditional songwriting. The final portion of the EP features the roots-driven, localized groove of "Back to Georgia" and concludes with an acoustic-reimagined, a cappella-driven "State of Mind (Remix)."
Poets & Heroes will be available on all major digital music streaming platforms beginning May 29.
